Data dictionary¶
The app supports six asset classes for Emissions and Climate Risk: Private Equity, Private Debt, Public Equity, Public Debt, Property and Infrastructure. Geospatial Risk is a separate analysis with its own input and its own result table, covered at the end of this page.
Corporate and government bonds are one asset class, Public Debt.
They are told apart on the results by the DEBT_TYPE column, not on the
input. Loans to private borrowers are Private Debt: the borrower's
columns are the Private Equity columns, plus the loan's maturity date and
outstanding amount.
Input columns¶
One table per asset class, listing every column that class reads. A run covers a single asset class, so supply the columns for the class you are running. Column names are matched case-insensitively, and you can map your own column names onto these in the user interface or with the column_map parameter.
Financial values must be in US dollars (USD). They are not currency-converted for you.
Where an industry classification is required, the accepted systems are anzsic, factset, gics_l4, rbics_l3, rbics_l4. The system is chosen once for the whole run, not per row.
Private Equity¶

Output columns¶
Results are written to tables in the app's DATA schema, which you have
SELECT on. Results accumulate across runs, so filter by TASK_ID to read a
single run.
DATA.EMISSIONS¶
One row per holding per year, keyed by (TASK_ID, INPUT_ROW, YEAR). Financial
columns are carried through from your
input for the classes that supply them, and are empty for Public Equity and
Public Debt, which are resolved against Emmi's pre-computed universe instead.
| Column | Type | Unit | Example | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
TASK_ID |
number | 42 | The run that produced this row. Filter on it to read one run. | |
ASSET_CLASS |
string | Public Equity | The asset class this row was processed as. Rows written by earlier versions of the app have no stored class and read back as Private Equity. |
|
INPUT_ROW |
number | 7 | Position of the source row in your input, so a result can be traced back to the holding it came from. | |
IDENTIFIER |
string | AU000000BHP4 | The identifier you supplied, meaning whatever that column means for the asset class. | |
NAME |
string | BHP Group Limited | Name of the company or asset. | |
YEAR |
number | Year | 2024 | The year you requested for this holding. |
DATA_YEAR |
number | Year | 2023 | The year the record actually used came from. It differs from YEAR when the requested year had no data and an earlier year was used, and is empty when the holding could not be resolved. |
FISCAL_END_DATE |
date (yyyy-mm-dd) | Date | 2025-07-31 | Fiscal year end date for the company. |
COUNTRY |
string | Australia | Country the company or asset is in. | |
FACTSET_INDUSTRY |
string | Metals/Mining | Industry the emissions estimate was made against, mapped to Emmi's FactSet industry vocabulary. | |
DEBT_TYPE |
string | Corporate | For Public Debt only, whether the security resolved as corporate or government debt. Corporate or Government. |
|
BOND_TYPE |
string | Corporate | For Public Debt only, the bond security type. Corporate rows are Corporate or Securitized/Collateralized. Government rows are Sovereign, Agency, Local Authority/Political Division or Supranational. | |
BUILDING_TYPE |
string | Office | For Property only, the building type used to select the intensity factor. | |
MATURITY_DATE |
date (yyyy-mm-dd) | Date | 2031-06-30 | For Private Debt only, the loan's maturity date as you supplied it. |
OUTSTANDING_AMT |
float | USD | 10000000 | For Private Debt only, the outstanding amount the emissions were attributed with. Zero for a loan that had matured by 31 December of the row's year, which attributes nothing. |
OWNERSHIP |
float | Fraction | 0.1 | For Private Debt only, the attribution ratio the scope columns were scaled by: OUTSTANDING_AMT over the borrower's EVIC, or over total assets when EVIC is not supplied. Empty when there is nothing to attribute by (no outstanding amount, a negative EVIC, or an outstanding amount larger than the denominator). Divide a scope column by it to recover the borrower's own figure. |
REVENUE |
float | USD | 45000000 | Total revenue, carried through from your input. |
TOTAL_ASSETS |
float | USD | 92000000 | Total assets, carried through from your input. |

MARKET_CAP |
float | USD | 54000000 | Market capitalisation, carried through from your input. |
CAP_EX |
float | USD | 3100000 | Capital expenditure, carried through from your input. |
EMPLOYEES |
float | Count | 1250 | Number of employees, carried through from your input. |

float | USD | 28000000 | Gross property, plant and equipment, carried through from your input. |
TOTAL_DEBT |
float | USD | 19000000 | Total debt, carried through from your input. |
UNDERLYING_VALUE |
float | USD | 68000000 | The valuation to attribute emissions against, for the classes computed in your account. Private Equity and Private Debt: EVIC, or enterprise value when EVIC is not supplied, or total assets when neither is. Property and Infrastructure: book value, or market value when book value is not supplied. Empty for Public Equity and Public Debt, whose underlying financials are not disclosed. Multiply a scope column by your holding over this value to get financed emissions. |
NET_DEBT |
float | USD | 12000000 | Net debt, carried through from your input. |
SCOPE1_EMISSIONS |
float | tCO2e | 1621 | Scope 1 emissions by the entity. Scope 1 emissions are direct emissions from sources that are owned or controlled by the company, such as emissions from burning fossil fuels. For Public Debt this is the financed figure: the share of the issuer's emissions attributed to the bond, being the issuer's emissions scaled by the bond's outstanding amount over the issuer's enterprise value including cash (for government debt, over the country's PPP-adjusted GDP). It is the same figure Emmi delivers for that bond elsewhere, and is a small fraction of the issuer's total. For Private Debt it is likewise the financed figure: the borrower's estimated emissions scaled by OWNERSHIP. |
SCOPE1_PCAF |
float | Score | 3 | The PCAF score for Scope 1. PCAF is a method for recognising the quality of estimation. 1 = reported and verified, 2 = reported, 3 = estimated using historical emissions, 4 = estimated with financials only. |
SCOPE1_EMISSION_REPORTING_STATUS |
string | reported | Status of emissions reporting for Scope 1. reported, estimated or unavailable. | |
SCOPE2_EMISSIONS |
float | tCO2e | 13581 | Scope 2 emissions by the entity. Scope 2 emissions are indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy consumed by the company. For Public Debt and Private Debt this is the financed figure attributed to the bond or loan, as for SCOPE1_EMISSIONS. Empty for government debt rows, which carry Scope 1 only. |
SCOPE2_PCAF |
float | Score | 3 | As above, for Scope 2. |
SCOPE2_EMISSION_REPORTING_STATUS |
string | estimated | Status of emissions reporting for Scope 2. reported, estimated or unavailable. Not Applicable for government debt rows. | |
SCOPE3_EMISSIONS |
float | tCO2e | 75060 | Scope 3 emissions by the entity. Scope 3 emissions are all other indirect emissions in the company's value chain, both upstream and downstream. Common categories include purchased goods and services, business travel, employee commuting, waste generated, use of sold products, leased assets, and investments (including financed emissions). For Public Debt and Private Debt this is the financed figure attributed to the bond or loan, as for SCOPE1_EMISSIONS. Property has no Scope 3, so this column is empty for property rows, as it is for government debt rows, which carry Scope 1 only. |
SCOPE3_PCAF |
float | Score | 4 | As above, for Scope 3. |
SCOPE3_EMISSION_REPORTING_STATUS |
string | estimated | Status of emissions reporting for Scope 3. reported, estimated or unavailable. Not Applicable for government debt and property rows. | |
WACI_S1 |
float | tCO2e per million revenue | 123.45 | Weighted Average Carbon Intensity of Scope 1. Emissions as a factor of company revenue. For Public Debt and Private Debt the intensity columns describe the issuer or borrower, not the bond or loan: an intensity is a ratio of the entity's emissions to the entity's own revenue or enterprise value, so attributing a share to the holding does not change it. |
WACI_S12 |
float | tCO2e per million revenue | 123.45 | Weighted Average Carbon Intensity of Scopes 1 + 2. Emissions as a factor of company revenue. |
WACI_S123 |
float | tCO2e per million revenue | 123.45 | Weighted Average Carbon Intensity of Scopes 1 + 2 + 3. Emissions as a factor of company revenue. |
EVIC_CARBON_INTENSITY_S12 |
float | tCO2e per million EVIC | 123.45 | An intensity measure of Scope 1 and 2 emissions, as a factor of EVIC. |
EVIC_CARBON_INTENSITY_S123 |
float | tCO2e per million EVIC | 123.45 | An intensity measure of all emissions, as a factor of EVIC. |
DATA.CLIMATE_RISK¶
Written when a run requests the risk output. One row per holding per scenario
per analysis year, so a run over 100 holdings with 2 scenarios and 2 analysis
years writes 400 rows. Rows are keyed by
(TASK_ID, INPUT_ROW, YEAR, RISK_YEAR, TRANSITION_RISK_SCENARIO).
Value at risk columns are decimal fractions: 1 = 100%, 0.5 = 50%.
Not every column is filled for every asset class:
- Property and Infrastructure carry transition risk and temperature alignment
only. Their physical risk columns and
TOTAL_CLIMATE_VARare always empty, because market-based physical risk is not modelled for directly held real assets. Use Geospatial Risk for location-based hazard exposure on those assets. - Public Debt has no market-based physical risk of its own: the four physical
risk columns are empty for every debt row. Corporate debt rows carry the
issuer's physical risk in
UNDERLYING_TOTAL_PHYSICAL_VARand the bond'sTOTAL_CLIMATE_VAR. Government debt rows carry transition risk and temperature alignment only:UNDERLYING_TOTAL_PHYSICAL_VARandTOTAL_CLIMATE_VARare empty. - Private Debt is transition risk on the loan: the risk is computed from the
borrower's own emissions and financials and scaled by the loan's outstanding
amount and maturity, so a loan that has matured by the risk year carries no
risk. The physical risk columns and
UNDERLYING_TOTAL_PHYSICAL_VARare empty (no physical figure is computed for a private borrower), andTOTAL_CLIMATE_VARequalsTRANSITION_VAR. Temperature alignment is populated.

Temperature alignment does not change between scenarios. |
ACUTE_PHYSICAL_VAR |
float | % | 0.1 | Value at risk based on acute climate events caused by the baseline risk and anthropogenic climate change in the scenario at the risk year. |
CHRONIC_PHYSICAL_VAR |
float | % | 0.1 | Value at risk based on chronic climate events caused by the baseline risk and anthropogenic climate change in the scenario at the risk year. |

is made by the app.
| Column | Type | Unit | Example | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
TASK_ID |
int | 42 | Run id, as returned by SRC.SUBMIT_TASK. |
|
TASK_TYPE |

INPUT_RECORDS |
number | 25 | How many input records the run processed. Recorded for trial listings, where it counts towards the trial allowance. |
Timestamps are returned in your Snowflake session's timezone. Wrap them in
CONVERT_TIMEZONE('UTC', ...) if you need UTC.
Climate scenarios¶
Transition risk and temperature alignment are reported for 16 scenarios. The
user interface runs all of them; a SQL run uses all of them unless the
scenarios parameter names a subset. An id outside this list fails the run
before any compute.
Pass the id. The results table stores the scenario name, so
TRANSITION_RISK_SCENARIO holds NGFS_NetZero2050 for a run submitted with
ngfs_net_zero.
| Id you pass | Stored as | Warming | Description |

IPCC_AR6_Current |
3.0°C | Current Policies. Implements only legislated and operational policies, no new pledges, no NDC tightening, leading to roughly 3°C warming. |
ipcc_ar6_bau |
IPCC_AR6_BAU |
3.5°C | Business as Usual. High-end stress test based on a CD-LINKS "National Policies Included" baseline: minimal additional climate action and continued high fossil dependence. Recommended AR6 high emissions scenario. |

IPR_FPS |
2.3°C | Inevitable Policy Response, Forecast Policy Scenario. Forecast of the policy response governments are likely to enact as climate impacts intensify. Realistic but late and forceful. |
ngfs_low_demand |
NGFS_LowDemand |
1.4°C | Low Demand. Reaches Paris-aligned outcomes mainly through efficiency, electrification, and behavioural change, with reduced reliance on carbon dioxide removal. |
ngfs_net_zero |
NGFS_NetZero2050 |
1.5°C | Net Zero 2050. Immediate, coordinated policy action with a smooth carbon-price trajectory to reach global net-zero by 2050. Recommended NGFS low emissions scenario. |
ngfs_delayed_transition |
NGFS_Delayed |
1.6°C | Delayed Transition. Climate policy stalls until 2030 then tightens abruptly to catch up, producing sharp repricing and stranded-asset risk. |
ngfs_below_two_degree |
NGFS_TwoDeg |
1.8°C | Below 2°C. Gradual strengthening of policy to hold warming below 2°C, less ambitious than Net Zero 2050 but still coordinated. Recommended NGFS medium emissions scenario. |
ngfs_ndc |
NGFS_NDC |
2.5°C | NDC. Only the current Nationally Determined Contributions are implemented, with no further tightening, driving high physical risk later in the century. |
ngfs_fragmented_world |
NGFS_Fragmented |
2.6°C | Fragmented World. Uncoordinated, region-by-region policy response producing divergent carbon prices and uneven transition costs. |
ngfs_current_policies |
NGFS_Current |
3.3°C | Current Policies. No additional policy action beyond what is already legislated, leading to roughly 3.3°C warming and severe physical risk. Recommended NGFS high emissions scenario. |
Geospatial Risk uses its own warming scenarios rather than these: baseline,
rcp4p5 and rcp8p5, each at 2030, 2050 and 2080. They are reported for every
asset and need no parameter.
